about
Salon Poulette explores the idea of comfort. As I recorded sounds and built rhythms, I tried to imagine a music that would make playing on stage a soothing experience for me. I used familiar daily sounds as a starting point, in hopes that I would feel at home while playing live. My fridge, my coffee machine, my wok and many more were part of the casting.
While searching for coziness in my daily life’s soundtrack, I found myself yet again fascinated by “insignificant” sounds. This is something that has driven other solo projects of Pompet’. I’ve always been captivated by trivial sounds, those we hear without listening to them except when they have a clear purpose (the sound of an alarm clock for example). By making music with these sounds I pay tribute to them; as their very existence is brought to the attention of listeners, they connect us to the present moment.
When listening to Salon Poulette, you’ll hear the small and unassuming sounds inherent to my life. I extracted, transformed and juxtaposed them to create a music I wanted playful and lively.
Playing Salon Poulette is like being in my living room!
Welcome home, relax and enjoy!
